Silicon Solar Donates $17,000+ To Local YMCA

Silicon Solar Inc recently made a donation of ten SunMaxx-30 evacuated tube solar collectors to the Broome County YMCA in Binghamton, NY. The new solar hot water heating system is part of more than $1,000,000 that the YMCA has invested in energy efficiency upgrades.

SunMaxx-30 evacuated tube solar collectors are SRCC certified, and the largest solar collectors manufactured by Silicon Solar Inc. SunMaxx-30 solar collectors are typically used for domestic hot water heating applications as well as radiant/space heating sysyems for homes, businesses and municipal buildings.

The ten solar collectors have a value of more than $17,000, and are a major part of Silicon Solar's initiative to work with local businesses, groups and schools to promote solar energy, and offer solar energy educational programs in New York state, where the company is based.

The solar collectors will provide around 140 million BTUs every year - more than enough to heat 218,000 gallons of water every year. In other words, the solar heating system will offset enough natural gas for more than 29,000 showers a year (or 83 each day). The YMCA expects tremendous financial benefits from the new solar hot water heating system.

Silicon Solar worked jointly with two of their local dealers, Eastern Energy Solutions and SureTemp on the project, along with the New York State Energy Resource Development Authority, to arrange and complete the project.
